Private practice website design is website design for a clinician who is personally regulated for what the site says. Every page is doing two jobs at once: persuading a patient who is frightened rather than shopping, and staying inside the guidance that governs how you may describe yourself, your qualifications and your results.

In practice that means a smaller site than an agency would sell you, weighted toward the four pages patients actually read before they enquire: the procedure, the fees, the profile, and what happens on the day.

What makes a private practice website different?

A patient choosing a surgeon is not shopping. They are frightened, they are comparing three names a friend or a GP gave them, and they are looking for a reason to rule you out. Nearly all of the decision happens before anyone picks up a phone.

So the pages that matter are not the ones agencies usually spend the budget on. They are the fees page, the "what happens on the day" page, the profile that says where you trained and how many of these you do a year, and the page that answers the question the patient is embarrassed to ask.

What is included in a private practice website build?

  • A design you sign off before anything real is built
  • Procedure and condition pages written for your specialism rather than dropped in from a library
  • Practitioner profiles with qualifications, registration and training
  • A published fees position, because the practices that publish one get fewer wasted enquiries
  • An enquiry route that reaches you in the way you already work
  • Structured data on every page type, so search engines and AI assistants can read the site properly
  • A compliance read of every claim before it goes live

What will we refuse to put on your site?

A guarantee of results. The words "risk free". The brand name of a prescription-only medicine. A star rating you control. A statistic neither of us can evidence. Each of those appears on private clinic sites every day, and each of them is a problem for the regulated party, which is you.

How is this different from a website from a general agency?

A general agency builds you something that looks like a clinic. The difference is what happens after the design is signed off. Ours writes procedure pages for your specialism rather than adapting a template, reads every published claim against the guidance that applies to you, and builds the referral page that most private sites simply do not have.

The other difference is the shape of the site. A general agency tends to sell pages, so you end up with twenty thin ones. Thin pages are the most common reason a new practice site sits unindexed for months. Eight pages that each answer something properly will be found sooner than twenty that half-answer everything.

How a private practice website gets built

  1. Brief and structure

We agree what the site has to do, which procedures you want more of and who else needs a route in, such as GPs and referring consultants. You see the page structure before any design exists.

  2. Design, then content

You sign off a design before anything real is built, then the pages are written for your specialism and sent to you. Clinically you have the final word on every sentence about a procedure.

  3. Compliance read, then live

Every published claim is read against the guidance for your specialism, the structured data goes on, and the site goes live. Two rounds of revisions are included, and the domain is registered in your name.

Website design questions

How much does a private practice website cost?

From £1,995 for a single consultant, £3,995 for a practice with several practitioners or procedures, and £7,500 for a multi-site group with migration included. Every site is then looked after on the £65 a month care plan, which is priced separately so you can see both figures rather than one bundled number.

How long does it take?

2 to 3 weeks on Starter, 2 to 4 weeks on Practice and 3 to 6 weeks on Group. The part that decides it is usually how quickly the content comes back from you, not the build.

How many pages do I need?

Fewer than you think and more than most agencies build. A single consultant usually needs eight: home, about, two or three procedures, fees, contact and a quote route. A group needs a page per site and a page per procedure.

What does a good doctor’s website have to include?

A procedure page that answers the question a patient is too embarrassed to ask. A fees position, even if it is only a from-price. A profile carrying training, registration and how often you do the procedure. A route for referrers that is separate from the patient enquiry. And an enquiry form that reaches you in the way you already work.

Can you migrate my existing site?

Yes, and on the Group package it is included. We keep the URLs that already rank and redirect the ones that do not.

Do you write the content?

Yes. You review it, and clinically you have the final word on every sentence about a procedure.

Will it work with my practice software?

Enquiries can go to your inbox, or to Semble, Medesk, Cliniko or whatever you already run. Plenty of practices have no system at all and do not need one to buy a website.

Who owns the site and the domain?

You do, both of them. The domain is registered in your name from the start. If you leave the care plan it transfers to you free of charge and you take the site files with you.

Will it be accessible?

Yes. Every text colour on this site was measured against the WCAG 2.2 AA contrast threshold, and yours will be too. A meaningful share of private patients are older, and a site they cannot read is a site they do not enquire through.

What would yours cost?

From £1,995, live from two weeks. A price back within one working day.
